6+6

My driving class culminated last week and I’m greatly relieved that it’s off my bucket list. Finally, I was able to put into practice the basics, tips and tricks of driving that I’ve learned from the handbook and from the in-class. I’m praying that I can practice everyday before winter.

newbie driver

Here’s a brief  outline of my driving blunders:
1st Hour

  • Mood:  nervous breakdown!
  • When I was required to slow down, I stepped on the gas pedal instead of the break.
  •  Turtle like speed.

2nd Hour

  • Mood: antsy
  • Incorrect steering! Should do hand over hand.
  • The steering wheel was “out of control” whenever I do the right and left turn so I always end up in the wrong lane. Hazardous!
  •  The driving instructor was going nuts because of my repeated lapses.

3rd Hour

  • Mood: slightly jittery
  •  Going to the rightmost lane when doing a left turn as if I will do a right turn. Ha!
  •  Doing a left turn too late or too quick.
  •  Flipping the left and right turn signal like Christmas lights.
  •  Turtle like speed.
  •  Driving for 30 minutes without a seat belt! Darn!
  •  Breaking while turning on a curve. Bad habit!

4th Hour

  • No longer tense.
  • Mood: bothered
  • Not doing the shoulder check during a right turn and changing lanes
  •  Slowing down on a stop sign.
  • Doing a full stop on a yield sign.(It should be the other way around.)
  •  Speeding in a residential area.
  • Turtle like speed in a main street. (It should be the other way around.)

5th Hour

  • No longer tense.
  • Mood: enthusiastic
  • Breaking while turning on a curve
  •  Forgot to put on a seat belt again
  • Finally hearing a  “Good Job!” remark  from the driving instructor whenever:

**** I’ve managed to do a correct left and right turn
**** Stopping and slowing down on the correct signs

6th Hour

  • No longer tense.
  • Mood: tickled pink
  • I remembered to put on my seatbelt. 😀
  • Doing the correct left and right turn more often
  • Still overwhelmed when driving in a busy street. It scares the hell out of me whenever I see cars all around me. LOL
  • Can now speed up to 50-60 km. A great jump from 20 ey? 😀

What’s next after the 6 hours in class and 6 hours actual driving course?  Practice to the maximum level! I need to take a road test in a few months time to “upgrade” my driver’s license.

Below are the things for me to improve before the road test:

  • Be alert on spotting traffic signs
  • Follow religiously the rules of road
  • Consistent correct steering
  • Proper left and right turn
  • Practice mirror and shoulder check
  • Driving in downtown
  • Driving in the freeway
  • Maneuvering in circle drive
  • Rough road driving
  • Reversing
  • All types of parking techniques
  • Most importantly, grace under pressure must prevail. 😉

Whew! I have a long way to go! I wish I can have SUV as my first car. However, it will still be a dream… for now.. Ha! Aja!

baffled?

I hope you all had a restful sleep and will be able to share your objective opinion on this matter. Does it sound like an international concern?  Maybe… in a way. Ha!

Just a note, this is a true story.
Let’s get down to business.

Click on the links below to get the birds eye view (or should I say, “lengthy” recap?  ) about this “hot” topic:

 Here’s a quick tip:

  • Guy is Alex       -> the  Ex Boyfriend (“class guy”)
  • Lady is Buffy    -> the Heroine
  • Antonio is Yno -> the New Guy (“cool guy”)

The challenge here is for you to connect the dots! Are you apt for it?

ISSUE:

  • Alex apparently wants to reunite with Buffy
  • Yno seemingly wants be a part of Buffy’s life
  • Buffy is somewhat growing closer to Yno but trying to restrain herself because things seem to be bizarre at the moment.

Consequently, Mitch, Scott, Robert and I (TheCuriousMe) had an absolutely interesting and intense exchange of ideas about the issue. To be honest, I thought the above subject has already been settled but it was re opened one night and then the discussion continued the next morning.

The statement that really left a mark is:

  • “Know if your heart is in the right place…”

Hmmm… let’s leave it here for the moment. That will leave you time to ponder. Don’t get frustrated. 🙂 Viewpoints of the four (4) “relationship council” will be shared shortly. Until then!  😉

short term course

What a gruelling week…sigh…
—————————————————————————————————-

I took a 10-session short term course (related to accounting) last July and the class was conducted every Monday and Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.. It was mentally and physically draining because I had to dash from my work place to the school after knocking off at 6p.m..

It’s 60-minute travel during rush hour, thus, the train was jampacked. I normally eat before going to class but travelling makes me hungry and as a result, I can’t focus well during the discussion. You can just imagine how in my eyes, the lecturer transforms into strawberry, fried chicken, and hamburger. Sometimes, he also looked like a chocolate bar and ice cream. -_-

The agonizing short term course ended last August and the exam was scheduled during the last week of September. I took a breather for a few days and I had the opportunity to review for a week from 4a.m. to 6:30a.m. daily  when my two direct boss went to Paris for a business trip.

I stopped when they returned from their trip because I was too exhausted from work and I couldn’t get up at 4a.m.. Therefore, I opted to review during the weekend. Nonetheless, the book and my course notes (hand outs and exercises) were so thick that I had a hard time squeezing it all in my study days. Thus, I took a 4-day leave to prepare for the examination plus 1-day leave for the examination proper. Plus another day to contemplate and rest.

During that review week, someone decided to provide a “lovely tune”  by drilling in the car park building next to our place from 9a.m. to 6 p.m. My head was about to burst whenever I hear the “sound of music”. I had to shift my study schedule to night time and sleep at day time. M&M, Cadbury, Ferrero Rocher, and Toblerone (only milk and dark chocolate) kept me company when I was burning the candle.

Anyway, I’ve discovered that my memory it is not as sharp as it used to be when I was younger… I know, it’s a sign of old age. So, I had to  put in “super duper extra mega over” effort in studying my notes and books. It’s indeed a “major major” review. Ha! :p

Outcome:
Endless drilling noise at day time + sleepless nights + exam preparation = BURNT OUT

After the exam, I felt so weak and sleepy. I was ready to spend the whole afternoon sleeping then wake up late the next morning. However, I was asked to cancel my remaining 1-day leave and was requested to go back to work. Being a workaholic and a loyal employee, I abided. I don’t know how I managed to finish my tasks given the fact that I was still in limbo. Crazy!

The exam result will be out this month (October 2010). Hopefully, I passed. Cross your fingers for me.

(Note: Surprisingly, I passed the exam with flying colors. 😉 Sweet! )

birthday

The class captain (Juvy) was conducting the regular weekly meeting when I went down to get some documents. When I returned to the class room, I overheard their plan to surprise me on my birthday. I pretended be oblivious so as not to spoil their plan. Juvy summarized what they have tackled and of course, she left out the birthday surprise portion.

The “big day” came and it was business as usual. I reached the laboratory room five minutes before our schedule, so I waited outside and had a chitchat with the other creatures. Although, I already knew that they were planning something for my birthday, I never thought that they would have the guts to connive with the one in charge of the laboratory before our class. They decorated it with balloons and posted a very looooooong paper with their handwritten messages for me.

I was at the door when the students from the previous class came out from the room and they all had this funny look on their face but I pretended to be clueless. Ha! When I entered the room, they switched on the light and all greeted me a happy birthday. I gamely exclaimed, “What a surprise!” but my facial expression says otherwise. The class captain freaked out and asked if I knew it all along and I answered “yes” with a matching laugh.

She’s a bit upset but we were all in a jovial mood that we ended up teasing her.  It was a birthday celebration worth remembering.  I still get in touch with them from time to time and Juvy became my “adopted” sister and perennial buddy whenever I teleport to the land of the morning.

Now is the day after my birthday. Birthdays are celebration of life. And living life to the fullest is the name of the game. My heartfelt thank you to all those who remembered my big day! May May God bless you all!

Aja!

cool vs class

According to Robert E, cool guys are everywhere but class guys are endangered species. He further explained that cool guys are womanizers in general…while there are some that are not but most of them are.

Robert E also pointed out that class guys are not expected to be cool. Though they will try but it will not come naturally. Iit made me wonder, is cool guy synonymous to bad guy and the class guy refers to good guy? Ponder, ponder… Hmmm…

On the other hand, Mitch cited that a concrete example of cool and class guy are Yno (cool) and Alex (class). The heroine in this love triangle is Buffy. Buffy first “met” Alex and Yno came along unexpectedly. One thing to note is that Alex and Buffy were no longer an item when she “met” Yno.

At this point, it seems like Alex attempt to be reunited with Buffy is futile because Buffy and Yno have undeniably “something special” going on.

Here’s a scenario to think about:
Buffy can be herself with Yno. She can be sarcastic, grumpy, emotional, happy, childlike, etc. Surprisingly, Yno knows how to deal with it. And if Buffy is out of the line, Yno will tell her point-blank and vice versa.

With Alex, it seemed to be surreal where everything is revolving in a virtual world. Alex does not directly communicate with Buffy so the communication alone is absolutely unstable.

At any rate, whether class or cool it really doesn’t matter. In the end, what’s important the most is the guy who accepts Buffy’s imperfections and will move the earth just to be with her. And of course, the love should be mutually shared by both parties.

Agree or disagree? :p
