Fritchie (Charles Anderson’s Mom) and I were chatting about the good old days when she related some adorable episodes with Charles.

surprise

Charles: Mommy!!! Happy Birthday!!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!!
Mommy: (pretending to be surprised) Happy Valentine’s Day Charles! I love you.
Charles: I love you too Mommy! Mommy, Daddy got a surprise for you in the kitchen and it’s a flower! Don’t go to the kitchen ok? It’s a surprise!

Mommy: Oh really Charles? I want to see it!
(Note: Mommy already saw the dozen of red roses the night before Valentine’s Day when she came home late from work.)

Charles: No Mommy. It’s a surprise from Daddy. We made it last night
(Charles meant they put it in a vase).

Mommy: But I wanna see it. And since it’s for Mommy…

Charles then agreed and he accompanied his Mom to the kitchen.

Charles: See Mommy? Surprise!!!
Then he opened the card and spelled the words, “I love you Mommy”
(Note: Charles knows his alphabets and numbers now. He can’t read yet but he can spell. He will be 3 years old next month!)

Mommy: Oh! I love you Charles!
Charles:No. I love you more Mommy!

fire truck

Fritchie and her friend Edna (a.k.a. Ninang) were talking on the phone when Charles butt in.

Charles: Ninang, I wanna go there.
Ninang: Your Daddy borrowed your Mommy’s car. So, she can’t drop you off because she doesn’t have a car right now.
Charles: But Mommy can drive my fire truck Ninang.
(Note: Charles was referring to his toy)

Ha! He sure has a unique method of providing solutions. Way to go Charles!

P.S.
Thanks Fritchie Anderson for sharing! 😀

gardening

My father enjoys planting and takes pride on his crops. You bet, our family house in the Philippines is like a forest full of ordinary and peculiar plants. I don’t know how he does it, but whatever he plants, it grows in tip top shape without fail. I’m really amazed! Ha!

In as much as I would love to emulate him, I seem to not cut for planting activities.  Believe it or not, I’ve exerted great effort and every possible ways in planting this and that, still,  it did not work for me.

Sigh… It took awhile before I realized and accepted that I’m not a green thumb like him. When my cactus plant began to die, that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back. However, it doesn’t mean that I’m going to give up! Like what Justin Bieber said, never say never! :p

My interest in gardening resurrected when I saw my cousin started doing up her front and backyard during Spring time. I can definitely feel her passion while planting the flowers and vegetables. Hence, I grabbed the shovel and started to “mess around” with her plantation.:D I helped her till the soil then plant carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, and other strange vegetables in the backyard.

While in the front yard, I artistically grow flowers in my designated little corner and “sprinkled” some “vitamins” for them to be healthy and blossom happily.  So far, the “babies” are growing fast! The flowers are so colorful and I can sense that they are kissing the sun rays with eagerness and joy. The veggies? We have eaten some of the green leafy vegetables, the rest are still growing.

It dawned on me that gardening relaxes the mind and relieves stress. I may not do this consistently during Spring and Summer time, but I will surely do it every now and then. Aja!

tattletale

I was seated not far from the two ladies who were chatting happily (one lady was holding a bouquet of flowers and a card). As usual, I had an invisible bulwark set up around me as I prepare myself to take a “travel nap”.  My barricade was shattered when the lady holding the card animatedly asked her friend about something.  It’s loud enough for all of the passengers inside the bus to hear.

“travel nap”

The conversation went this way:
Lady 1:  Do I look like 59?
(TheCuriousMe Note: Lady 1 was holding the bouquet of flowers while reading the card… It’s obviously her birthday.)

Lady 2:  No.
Lady 1:  Oh! Thank you!
(TheCuriousMe: She’s absolutely delighted with her friend’s answer because she flashed a bright smile! Oh boy! )

In my little corner, I nearly blurted out, “No, you look like you’re 70″. Good thing I controlled my mouth, I don’t want to burst her bubble. I don’t even know them. Bad me. :p Though my “travel nap” was boorishly  severed, I was still grinning mischievously. Darn! I must be going berserk. Am I making any sense?  This must be the effect of not having a restful sleep.

Until then! Mwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwa!

V-Day

February 14, Valentine’s day…

If you want to know the history, search it from the Internet or watch from the TV shows… which is incidentally the “in” topic this month…

I find it weird why people are making such a big fuss with this so called “V Day”. I wonder if this is the only day wherein couples give each other a special surprise? Just saying! Don’t get me wrong,  I don’t want to sound like a bitter and pathetic old maid.  Although, I’m old but I’m not bitter and pathetic.  😉

As of this moment, my most memorable V Day so far happened few years ago… That’s when I received a bouquet of roses, a ring, and a note. And the catch? I did not give him anything at all.  :p  In a way, I considered what he gave me during V Day as a bonus because V Day for me is whenever I received tiny notes from him every now and then.

However, that’s all in the past.

Up until now, I still prefer handwritten letter or a short note rather than a text message, chat or email. Maybe I’m abnormal but I find the traditional method more appealing and romantic. :p  And to answer that lingering question at the back of your mind, yes, I’m single but my heart is taken. :p

Anyway, I will spend the V Day with my friends this year. It’s another impromptu outing that often end up wherever our feet will lead us. Ha!

As they say, if you can’t beat them, join them! Let’s all feel the breeze… the love in the air… and the romantic atmosphere…

Happy Heart’s Day everyone!
Enjoy and careful, careful!
Love, love, love!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cheers!
