Charles-isms

I first met Charles five years ago when he was almost two years old. He’s such an adorable kid…  and I so so so love him dearly! 😀

Up to this day, Fritchie (Charles’ Mom) and I still shares a good laugh whenever we recall Charles’ funny antics. 🙂 Here are some new ones that are truly remarkable. Read on!

SENSATIONAL SPELLER
Charles got an award in school. Sensational Speller

 chaz-Christmas  charles-

Charles: Mommy, I can spell anything now! My level is grade 3 level… that’s what Ms. Whiteside said
Mommy: I know Charles, you did a really good job in school and we are so proud of you.

(as Charles enters the house…)

Charles: Daddy… Daddy! I got a trophy! I’m the best speller in our class, grade 3 level. I can spell anything now.
Daddy: Ohhhh really? Spell “anything”
Charles: E N I T H I N G

Mommy and Daddy looked at each other stifling a laugh and they both tried to sound out  the word “anything”.

Charles: I know! I know! A N Y T H I N G   I told you I know!

BEDTIME
In bed… Daddy was snoring, Charles couldn’t sleep, and Mommy was pretending to be fast asleep.

 chaz  Charles

Charles: Daddy, Daddy… I’m bored… I can’t sleep… Can I have the remote please?
Daddy: Go to sleep
Charles: I can’t. I’m too bored. I wanna watch TV.
Daddy: Count the holes on the wall
Charles: What? There’s holes on the wall?
Daddy: Pretend there are holes on the wall and count it.

(Mommy was trying hard not to laugh because she’s supposed to be fast asleep.
After two minutes)

Charles: But Daddy I can’t see the holes. Can you please turn on the light?
Daddy: Charles go to sleep

(After few minutes….)

Charles: I can’t really sleep. I need the remote.

(Daddy ignored Charles)

Charles: Can I watch TV now Daddy? I will sleep if you give me the remote.

(Then, Daddy eventually gave him the remote)

After ten minutes of watching TV, Charles’ finally fell asleep.

CHRISTMAS CARD

Fritchie-Charles

Mommy: Can you write a card for Mlle. Dorman? We will go out tomorrow to buy her a present.
Charles: Ok Mommy. (then he proceeded to get his markers and paper)

(After 10 minutes, Charles went to the kitchen to show his work of art.)

Charles: Mommy I did it. I even did it in French and I made the letters in patterns like red and green.  (He also drew a Christmas tree)
Mommy: (wondering) Charles, how did you know the French words for Merry Christmas?
Charles: Mommy I searched it in Google. Everything is in Google you know, Mommy.

See??? Isn’t he adorable? 😀 See you again soon!

submarine

I’m back…  (…again)! 🙂

—————————————————————————————
Before I get carried away blabbering about why I disappeared, I would like to thank Jellybean and Sothi for the enlightenment about the transformation of thecuriousme’s logo. Most of all, my heartfelt gratitude to Chihhang for helping J and @TheSoulfulVixen tweak the new look of the logo (click here to read the blog entry,”renovation”). Maraming salamat (Thank you very much)! 😀
——————————————————————————————

Sooo… I had gone on hiatus for a couple of months (right… almost a year!!!)… Kinda like a submarine… You know… submarines float and then dive under the water… then resurface… then disappear again… -_-

Let’s just say, I was trying to live my life to the fullest and not waste time hiding in my cave. Yeah… I used to lock up in my nerd cave, living in a virtual world. I’ve realized that there’s more to life outside the four corners of my rock shelter! Life is indeed colorful and too short.

Expect to see fascinating new blog entries soon! 😉 FYI. Posts will be in no particular order.

British Columbia (B.C.), Canada is definitely my next target after enjoying the tourist spots of Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. I was planning to travel last June 2012 but for some reason, it got pushed back from my bucket list.

Later on, my cousin, Jaime (a.k.a. Chancee), informed me that he’s flying to Winnipeg for a study tour and asked me if it’s possible for us to meet up. We both agreed to see each other in Vancouver and stay in one of our relatives place whom I haven’t met.

I was so pumped! I’ll be hitting four birds with one stone! Err… it would also be cute to say, with one airfare. Well, it’s surely worth it. I’ll be able to:
*** Chat with my cousin
*** Meet & bond with my new-found relatives
*** Take a well-deserved holiday
*** “Get to know” British Columbia

Indeed, God is good. Through His “magical hands”, the wonderful trip took place and it certainly paved the way to connect some of the missing links of my life.

So, what happened during the trip? Hmmm… I’ll let you know in a bit. :p

When I went to Ontario, my “little sister” Fritchie, included apple picking in the itinerary. I was thrilled because I haven’t seen an apple tree yet. Ha!  I don’t know how it came about, but apple or apple trees seem to be a big thing on the other side of the world  (Philippines) where I grew up. :p

On the day of the apple picking, Bob (Fritchie’s husband) drove us to find a particular apple farm. While Bob was giving me a crash course about Canada, Fritchie noticed that we were driving in circles and can’t seem to find that elusive apple farm.

It’s kinda funny because we ended up going to a pumpkin farm. -_-  To maximize our time, we decided to go to Badlands as well.  Moreover,  we also had fun driving up and down the hill (a “roller coaster” ride!) in which it surely made Charles giggly. Hahaha!

pumpkins!

badlands

Bob searched for another good apple farm near the area where he grew up. The next “apple picking” itinerary got pushed back several times. Nonetheless, we were able to do it on my last day in Ontario.  It’s weird because Charles decided to get cranky during that day. He was weeping while we were walking in the apple farm. It was so loud that we can even hear the echo! Maybe he can sense that it was my last day in Ontario? Or he was just pulling our leg? Hmmm…

Anyway, he did stop crying when he got tired.  And we all enjoyed picking (and eating) apples!  I thought apple trees are tall like pine trees. Good thing it’s not, or else, I won’t be able to reach any apples at all. It does resemble the guava tree that I used to climb when I was a teenybopper back in the Philippines.Ha!

Charles & Bob

want some? 😀

What should I do next? Maybe pick tulips in Netherlands? I didn’t get to do that when I was there (click here to read the  Netherlands article). Or be a DJ for a day at Wave radio (i hope i won’t mess up the titles. :p)? Or perform like what Madonna did during the Superbowl? Ha! We’ll see.

Niagara Falls

At first, I thought the falls was a curtain-like water flowing from a huge mountain that blocks the other side of the world. I know, it was a pure insane imagination.  In reality, the Niagara Falls is sandwiched between Canada and United States of America (in which I’m sure you perfectly know that. I’m just reminding myself.  ).

I was surprised when I had a glimpsed of the buildings from the USA and realized that it’s a “hair-strand” away! I was resisting the urge  to dive in the cold water and  swim to the other side. Errr… Too bad, so sad…  I don’t know how to swim (click here to read my swimming experience). 😉

dive!!!

Although it was drizzling,  we still took photos like crazy!

Below are more photos near the Niagara Falls area:

SkyWheel

big fat me! 🙂

For the fireworks display, Charles had a splendid time looking and naming the beautiful colors. I can still hear his quirky voice shouting, “Yellow! Green!  Purple! Red! Orange!”. ;D

It was a long drive but it’s worth it! Thanks Bob for taking us there and for (reluctantly?) giving in to our whims !

Where’s Charles?

… and automatically, Charles will say “right here!”…  😀
(with one hand pointing at himself and the other hand waving excitedly)

Charles, the little prince, is Bob and Fritchie’s 2 ½ year old son (see related article -> Ontario). He’s completely adorable and a leader in the making! How?  Well, he always made sure that everyone should strictly follow his “planned” seating arrangement in the dining area.

no… this is not the dining area. :-p

When I use his favorite chair… he just stares at me with, “that’s my seat” look evident on his face.

no… this is not the chair. :p

He loves saying the following “words of wisdom” in his own very bubbly tone:

  • “Oh no!”
  • “You ok Daddy?”
  • “Hi Guys!”
  • “Right here!”
  • “What you doing Mommy?”
  • “Mommy, don’t make a mess!”
  • “Where’s Tita?”
  • “Tita went home at the airport”
  • “Don’t cross my river”

His favorite shows are:

Thomas & Friends

Charles loves to watch Diego whenever we travel. He has his own DVD player with the Diego DVD repeatedly viewed with so much enthusiasm! Mind you, that “Go Diego Go!” song kept playing in my head for the longest time even after I left Toronto. 🙂

Before, I didn’t even know that Diego exists. Also, I learned that Diego is Dora’s cousin. Whoa! I’m not sure if that’s suppose to be a secret. 😉

Meeting and bonding with Charles was one of the highlights of my trip. It made me feel (and look?) young again. Ha! See you (soon?) Charles!

Ontario

I flew to Ontario few months ago for the following reasons:

  • to run an important errand (whatever that is :p) 😀
  • meet a couple of Lormanian (College) friends whom I didn’t see for more than 10 years
with Genevieve
with Fritchie

  • do some sightseeing

Special thanks to the Anderson Family (Bob, Fritchie and Charles) for letting me into their lovely home (very cozy!!!) and for taking good care of me during my stay in Ontario.

The Anderson Family

Bob. The Amazing Tour Guide who took time off as requested by his wife, Fritchie. His informative insights made the tour more interesting. I’ve learned a lot. Thanks! 🙂

Fritchie. The Super Mom who showcased her cooking skills and “encouraged” me to taste her delectable dishes which she learned from Rachael Ray (as she kept saying it ).

Ok I admit, you’re an excellent “chef” now… leveled up from our “apartment”  & “dishwasher” & financer… 😉

Charles. The Little Prince, my backseat companion, who unceasingly lighten up our daily activities and made it more extremely exciting. 😀

It’s one of the grandest time of my life! Merci Beaucoup!
