British Columbia (B.C.), Canada is definitely my next target after enjoying the tourist spots of Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. I was planning to travel last June 2012 but for some reason, it got pushed back from my bucket list.

Later on, my cousin, Jaime (a.k.a. Chancee), informed me that he’s flying to Winnipeg for a study tour and asked me if it’s possible for us to meet up. We both agreed to see each other in Vancouver and stay in one of our relatives place whom I haven’t met.

I was so pumped! I’ll be hitting four birds with one stone! Err… it would also be cute to say, with one airfare. Well, it’s surely worth it. I’ll be able to:
*** Chat with my cousin
*** Meet & bond with my new-found relatives
*** Take a well-deserved holiday
*** “Get to know” British Columbia

Indeed, God is good. Through His “magical hands”, the wonderful trip took place and it certainly paved the way to connect some of the missing links of my life.

So, what happened during the trip? Hmmm… I’ll let you know in a bit. :p

winter party!

If there’s a summer party  (click here to read the summer party article), there’s a winter (Christmas) party!!! Woot! 😀

VendAstians’  donned their western attire and headed straight to Champetre County to celebrate  Christmas!  Several activities were planned by the social committee to keep the grown ups busy. It was definitely a fun filled evening!

Hush hush…. an after party was held in one of the Executives house!  Rock and roll!!!

Can’t wait for the next party! Wohooo!

“warm” weather

It looks like the clouds are tired of floating in the sky… decided to go down… and evolve into fluffy snow. Oh la la!

Come to think of it, I’ve been blabbering how I love the snow when I first arrive in the Toon City (click here to read the snow article). And now… I still love the snow… however, the bulky winter wear is driving me nuts! Waaaah!

The weather is bloody chilly (-38 degrees celsius.. so far)! Brrrr! At this time, I want to recall how a warm weather feels. Ha!  Check out below the river cruise  sunny moments and let’s all relive the summer season  😀 :

Now, back to reality. -_-  Enjoy the chilly weather and share some warm winter smile everyone!  Wohooo!

summer party!

The VendAsta summer party was held in our CEO’s place yesterday (Friday, July 15th 2011). It was warm and majority of my colleagues were soaking under the sun. At first, I also did some sunbathing but after few minutes, I could no longer stand it. Tiffany, one of my colleagues, was smiling when she saw me covering my arms with my jacket.

I’m one of those typical Asians who don’t like to get so dark. I’m already contented with my natural “morena” (a.k.a. “tan”) skin. I understand most “white” people want to be “brown” and most “brown” people want to be “white”. It’s one of life’s enigma.

Some were not present because of their scheduled holiday. It would have been more fun if the attendance were complete. Anyway, I was planning to have a photo with all of my colleagues but I just managed to do it with a few of them. Either I was too shy to approach the bigwigs or I was just too occupied hiding from the sun and at the same time, making sure I don’t miss the fun stuff.

Most of my colleagues brought with them their partners and children. Since I did not bring anyone with me, I just hopped from one area to the other. I even played with Jack (see related article about Jack) and Elaine, the two cute kids.

The highlight of the party was the pool race. All participants were excellent swimmers! Ches was the champion last year but it was capsized by Dale this year. I was planning to join the trampoline competition but the event did not pushed through.

Few drinks made me tipsy and sleepy. I drank one lemon beer (yes, lemon beer!), and two glasses of mixed drinks concocted by Blair. He experimented it so I named it, Blair Shoe Box drinks. Ha!

The Blair Shoe Box drinks turned my lips into orange in which I only learned about it when Nathan pointed it out to me. The drinks tasted like an iced tea and I was still “sober” when I was at the party but when I got home, I felt the effect of the drinks. Boy, I was really dizzy but I did not puke. And no hangover! I love it! 😀

In total, the party was a success!  I’m looking forward to more fun moments and hopefully, by Christmas, I will be able to bring someone with me. Hmmm…

P.S. I can’t believe I finished this entry in less than 20 minutes. I’ve been writing half-hearted articles for the past few days (sorry!). I’m glad the momentum is back!

I’ve always hated long and winding road because it makes me feel terribly dizzy and it triggers the “anacondas’” in my stomach to do a somersault. Result? Vomitting.  I used to puke everytime we travel to Baguio City* when I was a kid. And I definitely detest the aftermath feeling. Darn! Just by writing this paragraph makes me sick. Arghhh!
(TheCuriousMe Note: Baguio City is the Summer Capital of the Philippines.)

Now, why am I yakking about this bus and vomit thingy? Well, it seems like they implemented a new bus timing in which I’m not aware of. As a result, I “accidentally” rode the bus that took the long route. That timeslot was suppose to be the for “short route” bus that I normally take. Serves me right for not checking. Grrrr! There were so many left and right turns that it felt like I was travelling in a zigzag road!

By the time I reached the office, I was “super duper mega over” dizzy and I already felt like puking. No, I did not go directly to the bathroom. Instead, I immediately went to the kitchen area to prepare hot ginger and lemon tea to drink.

I felt miraculously better after sipping the contents of the cup. It’s even better than sniffing white flower (a.k.a ammonia) or taking biogesic or panadol. Hmmm… They said this is good for the voice too. That’s the main reason why I bought it. I never thought it works for “dizzy” and “nearly puking” people as well.

I hope by the time I finish the 24 packs, I will be able to sing one song without a glitch. La la la la la!

gardening

My father enjoys planting and takes pride on his crops. You bet, our family house in the Philippines is like a forest full of ordinary and peculiar plants. I don’t know how he does it, but whatever he plants, it grows in tip top shape without fail. I’m really amazed! Ha!

In as much as I would love to emulate him, I seem to not cut for planting activities.  Believe it or not, I’ve exerted great effort and every possible ways in planting this and that, still,  it did not work for me.

Sigh… It took awhile before I realized and accepted that I’m not a green thumb like him. When my cactus plant began to die, that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back. However, it doesn’t mean that I’m going to give up! Like what Justin Bieber said, never say never! :p

My interest in gardening resurrected when I saw my cousin started doing up her front and backyard during Spring time. I can definitely feel her passion while planting the flowers and vegetables. Hence, I grabbed the shovel and started to “mess around” with her plantation.:D I helped her till the soil then plant carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, and other strange vegetables in the backyard.

While in the front yard, I artistically grow flowers in my designated little corner and “sprinkled” some “vitamins” for them to be healthy and blossom happily.  So far, the “babies” are growing fast! The flowers are so colorful and I can sense that they are kissing the sun rays with eagerness and joy. The veggies? We have eaten some of the green leafy vegetables, the rest are still growing.

It dawned on me that gardening relaxes the mind and relieves stress. I may not do this consistently during Spring and Summer time, but I will surely do it every now and then. Aja!

snow!

It’s always been my childhood dream to see a real snow and experience the four seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall).  I lived most of my life in the Philippines and few years in Singapore wherein it’s summer most of the time!

Winter just ended when I went to Europe but I did experience Spring for three months. So, I still have Winter and Fall in my bucket list. Also, I promised myself that when I see a real snow, I will definitely take a pinch and savor the taste. Ha! Pardon my naivety. I am what I am. 😉

Following Big Bro’s master plan, I quietly migrated to North America during Winter time!  It was crazy in a way because there were different timezones in every airport I went to for my connecting flights. Thus, my body clock was in a total chaos and I reached my destination absolutely stressed out… for a moment. :p

Stress was replaced with unconcealed childlike grin and excitement! My cousin picked me up at the airport together with her family. She told me that my “Matrix” coat is for Spring and is not thick enough for the Winter. My “Matrix” look had to wait (sorry Majestic Mom!). 😉

When we arrived at their house, I took a pinch of snow on top of her other car and tasted it. It reminded me of the ice in Chowking’s halo halo (Filipino dessert).  It’s absolutely delicious and refreshing! Wohooo!

snow… in front of the house…

Previously, I never bothered to do it because the season was either sunny or rainy, warm or cold. I always bring small umbrella anyway. That would suffice back then. 😀 In a four season country, I learned that it’s a must to know the weather forecast so that you will know how to plan your outfit (how many layers), what jacket to wear (how thick or thin it is), if you will need mittens, etc.

Time flies… Spring is just around the corner and it will be Summer soon! I’ve noticed that a lot of locals love summer! However, for me, I anticipate Fall, Winter and Spring rather than the Summer.  I’ve had my fair share of Summer in this lifetime, I think. -_-  I was told that I will change my mind in a year or two. We’ll see.

Next winter, I will definitely make my own snow angel and snowman. Yabadabadoo!!!!
